OUR STORY

Why Families Choose
One on One Care

At One on One Care, you won’t find a corporate franchise logo — you’ll find a local family continuing a legacy of compassion and service. Since 1998, we’ve proudly supported seniors across Central and Northern Virginia with the same mission that inspired our founder, Charles Murray: to help people live safely, comfortably, and independently in the place they love most — home.

Because we’re local and family-owned, we offer something national franchises simply can’t match: personal attention, long-term commitment, and care that’s driven by community, not corporate policy. We live here, we care here, and we’ll always be here when your family needs us.

Our caregivers and nurses create customized care plans tailored to each person’s unique needs, ensuring your loved one receives dependable, compassionate support — delivered with dignity and respect every single day.

COMMON QUESTIONS

Questions?
We Have Answers

Choosing in-home care for a loved one is a big decision. Here are the questions families ask us most – and if you don’t find what you need, we’re always happy to talk.

How do I know if my loved one need in-home care?

Common signs include difficulty managing daily tasks like cooking, bathing, or medication, increased falls or safety concerns, loneliness or social withdrawal, or a recent hospital stay. If you’re asking the question, it’s probably worth a conversation — our care consultants can help you assess the situation at no cost or commitment.

What areas do you serve?

One on One Care proudly serves families throughout Fredericksburg, Stafford, Spotsylvania, Prince William, Fauquier, Culpeper. and surrounding Virginia communities. We are also expanding into additional areas throughout Central and Northern Virginia. If you’re unsure whether we serve your location, simply give us a call—we’re happy to discuss your needs and see how we can help.

How are your caregivers screened and selected?

At One on One Care, we know that great care starts with great people. Every caregiver is carefully screened through interviews, background and reference checks, and experience verification. We look for caregivers who are not only qualified, but also kind, dependable, and compassionate. Our goal is to match families with caregivers we would feel comfortable welcoming into our own homes.

How much does in-home care cost?

The cost of care depends on the level of support needed and the number of hours requested. We offer transparent pricing and can help determine whether Medicaid, long-term care insurance, or other programs may help cover costs. Contact us for a personalized quote—we’re happy to walk you through your options.

What if we’re not happy with our caregivers?

We want you to love your caregiver match. If something doesn’t feel quite right, please tell us. We carefully match caregivers based on needs and personality, but if a change is needed, we’ll work quickly to find a better fit. Your comfort, trust, and peace of mind are our priority.

Can care start quickly if there’s an urgent need?

Absolutely. We know care needs can arise suddenly, and we do our best to start services as quickly as possible. In many cases, we can move quickly through the assessment and caregiver matching process so families can get support without unnecessary delays.

Do you offer specialized care for Alzheimer’s or dementia?

Yes. Caring for someone with Alzheimer’s or dementia requires patience, understanding, and consistency. Our caregivers are experienced in supporting individuals with memory-related conditions and helping families navigate the challenges that come with them. We focus on creating familiar routines, encouraging independence when possible, and providing compassionate support that helps clients feel safe and comfortable at home.

Is there a minimum number of hours required?

Yes. We generally require a minimum of 4 hours per visit and 3 visits per week. These guidelines help us provide dependable staffing and maintain consistency for both clients and caregivers. If you have unique circumstances, we’re always happy to talk through your needs.
