Reliable, Local In-Home Support for Medicaid Clients and Their Families

Navigating care through Medicaid can feel overwhelming — but you don’t have to do it alone. At One on One Care, we provide high-quality, dependable in-home support for seniors and adults who qualify for Medicaid services. Whether your loved one needs help with daily tasks, personal care, supervision, or ongoing support, our team is here to make the process easier, clearer, and more compassionate.

Unlike national franchises, we are a local, family-owned company serving Central and Northern Virginia since 1998. Our founder, Charles Murray, built this agency on a deep commitment to helping people live safely and comfortably at home — regardless of their financial situation. Today, we honor that legacy by providing Medicaid services with the same dignity, respect, and reliability we offer every family we serve.

What Medicaid Services Include

Our Medicaid-funded in-home care services can include support such as:

  • Personal care (bathing, grooming, hygiene assistance)
  • Mobility and transfer support
  • Meal preparation and nutrition assistance
  • Light housekeeping and homemaker tasks
  • Laundry and linens
  • Medication reminders
  • Safety monitoring and general supervision
  • Assistance with daily routines and activities of daily living (ADLs)
  • Companionship and emotional support

We work closely with Medicaid case managers, families, and individuals to ensure care plans meet program requirements — while still honoring each person’s preferences, routines, and dignity.

Why Medicaid Services Matter

For many families, Medicaid is a lifeline — allowing loved ones to receive essential care at home rather than moving into a facility. Quality in-home support can:

  • Help seniors stay safely in familiar surroundings
  • Improve comfort, independence, and daily routines
  • Prevent avoidable hospitalizations
  • Reduce caregiver stress for families
  • Provide consistent, reliable support
  • Allow individuals with chronic conditions or disabilities to remain at home

Our caregivers provide this support with patience, respect, and genuine compassion — because every person deserves high-quality care, regardless of how it is funded.

Why Families Choose One on One Care

Families trust us because we offer something national franchises can’t:
longstanding local roots, personal relationships, and care grounded in purpose — not corporate policy.

  • Local, family-owned — not a franchise
  • Serving Virginia communities since 1998
  • A legacy of care inspired by Charles Murray
  • Reliable caregivers who build consistent relationships
  • Direct access to local leadership and support
  • Expertise working with Medicaid care plans and case managers
  • Personalized service, not just “checking the box” for requirements
  • A trusted reputation for compassion and dependability

We believe every individual deserves to be cared for like family — and that belief guides the way we serve our Medicaid clients.

A Local Team You Can Count On

Our Medicaid caregivers are carefully selected, fully trained, and committed to providing the same level of respect and compassion they would expect for their own loved ones. We look for dependable, heart-centered people who take pride in making a meaningful difference each day.

Your loved one will receive support from caregivers who truly understand their needs — and who genuinely care about their well-being.

Medicaid Services

If you are seeking care for an elderly loved one or a loved one with a disability, you may be eligible for a Medicaid waiver. Medicaid waivers allow qualified individuals to receive care services in their homes rather than being placed in a nursing facility. To qualify for a Medicaid waiver in the State of Virginia, you must meet a list of eligibility requirements.

Eligibility:

To determine whether you or your loved one qualifies for a Medicaid waiver, contact your local Department of Family Services Office to begin the eligibility process. The following is an overview of the Medicaid waiver process for new recipients:

  • To be eligible for a Medicaid waiver, a Medicaid Long Term Care Screening is required to assess the functional capacity of the individual.
  • For those who are not receiving Medicaid benefits, an Application for Adult Medical Assistance will need to be completed and sent to the care recipient’s local Department of Social Services office.
  • Once both financial and functional eligibility have been determined, an in-home assessment will be scheduled with a social worker and nurse from the Virginia Department of Health.
  • An approval decision is made within 45 calendar days of the in-home and financial assessment.
  • Once you have been approved for the waiver, One on One Care can start services for you right away. Have your social worker send your paperwork to us, and we will contact you to schedule an in-home assessment to determine which services are right for you.

At One on One Care, we are registered as a provider for:

  • Personal Care and Respite Care (CCC+ Waiver)
  • Developmental Disabilities (DD Waiver)

Do You Want to Change Your Provider Agency?

Are you receiving in-home care via a Medicaid waiver and want to transfer your care to another in-home care agency? You have the right to use any agency you wish. Transferring your services to our agency is simple. Contact your current agency, alert them that you would like to transfer your care to One on One Care and ask them to send us the documents needed for your transfer.

Please contact us at 540-288-1300 if you have any questions about the care transfer process.
