Personal Care

Dignified, Compassionate Support for Daily Living

At One on One Care, we understand that needing help with personal tasks can be sensitive — for both seniors and their families. Our Personal Care services provide respectful, hands-on support that allows your loved one to stay independent, safe, and comfortable at home.

We are not a national franchise or a corporate chain. We are a local, family-owned company that has served Central and Northern Virginia since 1998. Our founder, Charles Murray, built this company on a deep commitment to helping people live safely and confidently in their own homes — and that mission still guides every caregiver we employ.

What Personal Care Includes

Our personal caregivers are trained to assist with essential daily activities while preserving dignity and promoting independence. Support may include:

  • Bathing, showering, and hygiene assistance
  • Dressing, grooming, and personal appearance support
  • Toileting and incontinence care
  • Mobility, transfers, and fall prevention
  • Medication reminders
  • Light meal preparation and assistance with eating
  • Morning and evening routines
  • Safety monitoring and general supervision

Whether your loved one needs a little help in the morning or more frequent support throughout the day, we tailor every care plan to their unique needs and routines.

Why Personal Care Matters

As daily tasks become more challenging, seniors may feel frustrated, embarrassed, or anxious — and families often feel overwhelmed trying to help. Personal Care makes these moments easier and more comfortable for everyone.

With professional support, your loved one can:

  • Maintain dignity and confidence
  • Stay safe while bathing, dressing, and moving around the home
  • Reduce the risk of falls and injuries
  • Experience greater independence and comfort
  • Stick to healthy routines
  • Enjoy more meaningful time with family

Our caregivers provide assistance with compassion and respect, always prioritizing your loved one’s comfort and emotional well-being.

Why Families Choose One on One Care

Medicaid Services

Medicaid Services

If you are seeking care for an elderly loved one or a loved one with a disability, you may be eligible for a Medicaid waiver. Medicaid waivers allow qualified individuals to receive care services in their homes rather than being placed in a nursing facility. To qualify for a Medicaid waiver in the State of Virginia, you must meet a list of eligibility requirements.

Eligibility:

To determine whether you or your loved one qualifies for a Medicaid waiver, contact your local Department of Family Services Office to begin the eligibility process. The following is an overview of the Medicaid waiver process for new recipients:

  • To be eligible for a Medicaid waiver, a Medicaid Long Term Care Screening is required to assess the functional capacity of the individual.
  • For those who are not receiving Medicaid benefits, an Application for Adult Medical Assistance will need to be completed and sent to the care recipient’s local Department of Social Services office.
  • Once both financial and functional eligibility have been determined, an in-home assessment will be scheduled with a social worker and nurse from the Virginia Department of Health.
  • An approval decision is made within 45 calendar days of the in-home and financial assessment.
  • Once you have been approved for the waiver, One on One Care can start services for you right away. Have your social worker send your paperwork to us, and we will contact you to schedule an in-home assessment to determine which services are right for you.

At One on One Care, we are registered as a provider for:

  • Personal Care and Respite Care (CCC+ Waiver)
  • Developmental Disabilities (DD Waiver)

Do You Want to Change Your Provider Agency?

Are you receiving in-home care via a Medicaid waiver and want to transfer your care to another in-home care agency? You have the right to use any agency you wish. Transferring your services to our agency is simple. Contact your current agency, alert them that you would like to transfer your care to One on One Care and ask them to send us the documents needed for your transfer.

Please contact us at 540-288-1300 if you have any questions about the care transfer process.
