Homemaker Services

A Clean, Comfortable Home — and a Happier, Easier Life for Your Loved One

As seniors age, everyday household tasks can become overwhelming — and families often find themselves trying to manage two households at once. Our Homemaker Services take the pressure off by keeping your loved one’s home clean, organized, and running smoothly, so they can remain safe, comfortable, and independent where they belong.

At One on One Care, we’re proud to be local and family-owned, not a franchise or national chain. Since 1998, our team has helped Virginia families with compassionate, reliable in-home support built on the legacy of our founder, Charles Murray, who dedicated his life to helping others live well at home. That commitment continues in every home we serve today.

What Homemaker Services Include

We provide practical support that makes daily living easier, safer, and more enjoyable. Our homemaker services can include:

  • Light housekeeping and daily tidying
  • Laundry, linens, and clothing organization
  • Meal preparation and kitchen cleanup
  • Grocery shopping and errands
  • Trash removal and home organization
  • Assistance with household routines
  • Maintaining a safe, clutter-free environment
  • Support for special requests or seasonal needs

Whether your loved one needs occasional help or consistent weekly support, we create a homemaker plan tailored to their lifestyle, preferences, and home environment.

Why Homemaker Services Matter

A clean, organized home isn’t just convenient — it plays a key role in a senior’s health, safety, and overall well-being.

Homemaker support helps your loved one:

  • Reduce fall risks caused by clutter or disorganization
  • Maintain a healthier, more uplifting living environment
  • Enjoy regular, nutritious meals
  • Avoid stress and anxiety from household tasks
  • Stay independent without relying on family members
  • Feel more confident and in control of daily life

For families, this service provides peace of mind knowing the home is being cared for with the same attention they would give themselves — without the strain of trying to manage everything alone.

Why Families Choose One on One Care

Families across Central and Northern Virginia trust us because we offer something national franchises can’t match:
a community-rooted, personal approach to care.

  • Local, family-owned — not a franchise
  • Serving our community since 1998
  • A legacy of compassion inspired by Charles Murray
  • Consistent, friendly caregivers who build real relationships
  • Direct access to leadership — no corporate layers or call centers
  • Personalized plans built around each home and each family
  • Affordable private-pay options
  • Caregivers who take pride in serving their own community

We’re not here because of a corporate expansion. We’re here because this is home — and your family is our family.

A Local Team You Can Depend On

Our homemaker caregivers are carefully screened, trained, and chosen for their reliability, attention to detail, and kindness. We look for people who genuinely enjoy helping others and take pride in creating a safe, comfortable home environment.

Your loved one will receive ongoing support from a caregiver who truly cares — someone they can trust, depend on, and feel comfortable welcoming into their home.

Medicaid Services

Medicaid Services

If you are seeking care for an elderly loved one or a loved one with a disability, you may be eligible for a Medicaid waiver. Medicaid waivers allow qualified individuals to receive care services in their homes rather than being placed in a nursing facility. To qualify for a Medicaid waiver in the State of Virginia, you must meet a list of eligibility requirements.

Eligibility:

To determine whether you or your loved one qualifies for a Medicaid waiver, contact your local Department of Family Services Office to begin the eligibility process. The following is an overview of the Medicaid waiver process for new recipients:

  • To be eligible for a Medicaid waiver, a Medicaid Long Term Care Screening is required to assess the functional capacity of the individual.
  • For those who are not receiving Medicaid benefits, an Application for Adult Medical Assistance will need to be completed and sent to the care recipient’s local Department of Social Services office.
  • Once both financial and functional eligibility have been determined, an in-home assessment will be scheduled with a social worker and nurse from the Virginia Department of Health.
  • An approval decision is made within 45 calendar days of the in-home and financial assessment.
  • Once you have been approved for the waiver, One on One Care can start services for you right away. Have your social worker send your paperwork to us, and we will contact you to schedule an in-home assessment to determine which services are right for you.

At One on One Care, we are registered as a provider for:

  • Personal Care and Respite Care (CCC+ Waiver)
  • Developmental Disabilities (DD Waiver)

Do You Want to Change Your Provider Agency?

Are you receiving in-home care via a Medicaid waiver and want to transfer your care to another in-home care agency? You have the right to use any agency you wish. Transferring your services to our agency is simple. Contact your current agency, alert them that you would like to transfer your care to One on One Care and ask them to send us the documents needed for your transfer.

Please contact us at 540-288-1300 if you have any questions about the care transfer process.
